This piece is designed to play on the concept of open and closed storage. The grid pattern enables the customer to both highlight and hide the interior contents through revealed and concealed storage. Modeled after luxe Italian design combined with a hint of high-rise metropolitain skylines, this piece is a showstopper in any room.
After sketching I began making scale models, starting with a 1/8 scale model to develop materiality, then a full scale volume study to develop proportion.
